Participant to CSW
The Troopers Program offers participants the opportunity to develop professional and personal skills that may support future employment in community-based recovery services, including potential pathways toward becoming a Community Support Worker (CSW).
Participants who express interest in this opportunity may be considered for volunteer learning and service roles within the Troopers Program. Participation is entirely voluntary, unpaid, and designed to support educational and life-skill development, not employment. Individuals must first complete or be formally discharged from the Troopers Program as participants before being eligible to volunteer.
To be considered for volunteer training or mentorship related to CSW development, the individual must meet, be actively working toward, or be in the process of obtaining what is required by the Troopers Program and the State to perform related duties responsibly and ethically. These requirements may include obtaining a GED or high school diploma, completing required trainings or certifications, and consistently maintaining compliance with all Troopers rules, policies, and behavioral standards.
If accepted, the individual agrees to participate in the Troopers Life Skills Training Program, which provides structured, supervised instruction in communication, leadership, documentation, and recovery-support practices. All activities performed will be supervised by Troopers staff and are designed solely for educational and recovery-based learning. Volunteers will not perform duties that replace or replicate paid staff responsibilities.
This volunteer training opportunity will continue until the individual successfully completes all educational and behavioral requirements and obtains full CSW certification. Only after certification and formal program review may the individual be considered as a potential candidate for employment within Troopers or a partnering organization. Until certification is obtained and all requirements are met, the individual remains a volunteer and is not an employee or worker of the Troopers Program.
Participation in this opportunity does not constitute employment, compensation, or any guarantee of future job placement. It is an educational and professional development experience designed to support the mission of the Troopers Program — helping individuals rebuild their lives, develop real-world skills, and become active, responsible members of society. The goal is to prepare participants for success in everyday life settings, encouraging independence, accountability, and meaningful community involvement.
Participation in this training opportunity is not a condition of housing or continued program participation. Individuals may decline or withdraw at any time without penalty or impact on their residency status within Troopers. Likewise, the Troopers Program reserves the right to end volunteer participation at any time if program, behavioral, or ethical standards are not met.
I understand that I am not entitled to wages, benefits, or any form of compensation for my participation and that this agreement does not create an employment relationship under state or federal law. I further understand that participation in this volunteer training is a personal choice and that declining will not affect my housing, treatment, or access to program services.
I also understand that my participation in volunteer training is not a requirement of any legal supervision, probation, or parole condition, and that Troopers does not act as my employer, legal representative, or agent.
I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the Troopers Sober Living Program, its staff, officers, affiliates, and partners from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising out of or related to my participation in volunteer activities or training. I agree to indemnify and defend the Troopers Program against any claims resulting from my actions, conduct, or participation during this volunteer experience.
Troopers affirms that all volunteer activities under this agreement are non-compulsory, educational in nature, and conducted under proper supervision to promote learning, recovery, and professional readiness. No participant will be required or expected to perform any task that replaces paid staff duties or contributes to the program’s operational labor.
By signing the application, I acknowledge that I understand and agree to the voluntary and unpaid nature of this opportunity; that I have not been promised or guaranteed employment; that I remain a volunteer until I have obtained full CSW certification and formal approval for employment consideration; that I may discontinue participation at any time; and that I must comply with all Troopers Program rules, training expectations, and supervision requirements.
